Consumer debt, something that is so common these days. Credit cards make it way to easy to just sign your name and become maxed out on your credit. Many people loose track of their spending through the month and when that bill arrives, that are often given a rude surprise.
Even if you have good credit, the interest rates on these cards are high. Your credit union might offer you eight or nine percent on a secured loan but unsecured credit cards can be eighteen percent, and even much higher than that. One for sure way to get control of your spending is to have a budget. This is the only way you can plan and track where your money is going.
But you must stick with it for it to work for you. You will need to write down every single penny you spend and that means every coffee you buy and that tank of gas. Once you have it all on paper, you will be surprised how all the little things add up. It is then that you notice where you can cut back and little by little your spending will be under control and you can actually begin to save money. Wow, what a thought. You can then save for that vacation that you never seem to be able to afford.
