Financial Questions When Getting Married

Getting married?  Great, but what do you know about your spouses financial situation?  Financial problems and accusations are the cause for ninety percent of all divorces. Before you tie that knot it is good to talk about financial issues so you are both on the same page money wise. 

One good question to ask is who will be managing the money one you are married?  Many people just assume that the other person will take care of this area on to find then nothing is being taken care of.  Will both of you continue to work and will that be full time or part time?  Having two incomes can cause the relationship to suffer some sort of strain. There will be that worry of who is contributing more toward expenses and is each one doing his or her share.

As a couple you should both know what you can spend with having to speak with the other first. You can set a limit and just stick to that. Rules define your decisions made together and although it doesn’t sound romantic, it will let you know where each one stands. Do you both like using a budget and what are your long term goals?  All things that need to be addressed.
